TAIJIQUAN SETS FOR INTENSIVE TAIJIQUAN COURSE
Grandmaster Wong demonstrating "Open Window to Look at Moon" in White Snake Shoots Venom
The following Taijiquan sets, which form part of the teaching material of the Intensive Taijiquan Course, are presented here in still pictures as well as video clips so that those attending the course can more easily learn them.
Nevertheless, please note that while knowing the sets will be very helpful in freeing you form worrying about what techniques to use in combat application, form practice is only a minor part of our Shaolin Wahnam philosophy and methodology. More important are combat application and internal force, the training of which enables us to enrich our lives as well the lives of other people.
If you have difficulty learning these sets, do not worry. You will learn them within the five days of the course. If you do not understand the explanatory notes accompanying the sets mentioned below, for instance if you do not understand how practicing a set enable you to generate energy flow, do not worry too. You will learn that and other skills at the course.
Learning the sets before their combat application is for the sake of expediency — enabling you to get the best benefits from the Intensive Course as well as making the best use of computer technology. Historically, combat application came first. After years of actual fighting, past masters stylized their fighting movements into patterns. Later these patterns were linked into sequences. Then the sequences were linked into sets. We shall relive this process during the Intensive Shaolin Kungfu Course.
Please note that you can download the video clips onto your own computer and view them at your leisure. Enter the webpage (not this one) where the selected video clip can be downloaded. Place your computer pointer at the picture or one of the links, and right click. Choose “Save Target As”. Select the directory or sub-directory where you wish to keep the video clip. Click “Save”.
