DEFENCE AGAINST MIDDLE STRIKE

All attacks may be classified into four categories, namely striking, kicking, felling and chin-na (or a special way of gripping). Amongst strikes, the middle strike is the most common form of attack. An effective defence is "Single Tiger Emerges from Cave".

Practice the following two patterns carefully. The two patterns are "Single Tiger Emerges from Cave" for defence, and "Black Tiger Steals Heart" for attack.

For convenience, the defence and attack movements may be classified into three levels. Level 1 is performed slowly and correctly with little force. Level 2 is average speed and force. Level 3 is high speed and much force.

Progress gradually from Level 1 to Level 3. Take about a month of daily practice so that you can react spontaneously and fast whenever an opponent executes a middle strike.
