STANCE-TRAINING POISES TO DEVELOP INTERNAL FORCE

Shaolin Kung Fu

This poise, called "San Ti Zhuang" or "Three-Body Stance", is commonly used in Taijiquan, Baguazhang and Xingyiquan for internal force training. It is called "Playing the Lute" in Taijiquan.

When students can perform the stances proficiently, they may proceed to develop internal force using various stance-training poises. Four excellent poises are shown here, namely "Carrying Water", "Embracing the Sun", "Separate Dragons", and "Playing the Lute". It is crucial to perform the stance-training poises in a chi kung state of mind.
