CRANE FLYING THROUGH CLOUDS
This is the first time Grandmaster Wong is teaching the Eighteen Jewels of Shaolin Wahnam Chi Kung on the Blue Mountain in Costa Rica from 24th to 28th February 2013. The original name was Eighteen Therapeutic Exercises, but over dinner Sifu Anthony Korahais suggested Eighteen Jewels to be a more poetic name, and Grandmaster Wong immediately agreed.
These were called the Eighteen Therapeutic Exercises because Grandmaster Wong used them in his early years of chi kung healing and found them extremely useful in helping patients recover. As explained to the class on the Blue Mountain, these exercises were invented by Grandmaster Wong to meet expedient needs. In some cases he found that the exercises from the Eighteen Lohan Hands which he frequently used, took too long for patients to recover, and as Grandmaster Wong had only a few days to treat the patients in his travels, he invented these exercises to meet some immediate needs.
Over the years, Grandmaster Wong found that these exercises were not only very useful for healing but also for promoting good health, vitality, longevity and mental clarity. Here the change from Eighteen Therapeutic Exercises to Eighteen Jewels is appropriate.
Crane Stepping on Snow is one of these eighteen exercises. Besides being effective in overcoming many health problems, it is excellent for making practitioners agile, joyous and free, as can be seen in the video.
